Call of Duty Black Ops Guide to Success

Getting Started
As you may all know, this Holiday season many will be playing Call of Duty Black Ops. Some may be first generation players, and others will just be starting out. I am here today to improve your overall skill. Please take the time to read these posts as these may propose useful to you.
1. Combat Training
What is combat training you ask? Combat training is just like multiplayer, except you are playing against bots ( Computers). For any player starting out, this will help you get the feel of the game. For anyone with prior experience playing Call of Duty, this may not be as useful towards you. Combat training will also help you build your gun skill and you will get to know the maps.

2. Theater Mode
Theater mode is basically what the title displays. You can go back and watch your prior games. This is a great way to go back and analyze your game play to see what you can improve. You can also record clips and put them on youtube using theater mode.
3. Use your Head
What do I mean when I say, "Use your head?" Basically I am saying don't do anything stupid like run out into the middle of the map towards the other teams spawn. This may sound like nobrainer, but you would be surprised about how careless people are about rushing. Make sure if you are planning on rushing you have a SMG class. If you are planning on posting up in a building I would recommend that you use an Assault Rifle class.
4. Plan Ahead
Strategy is Key when playing any first person game, think about what you are gonna do before actually doing it. Trust me, this will save you many lives and as time comes you will begin to get smarter and you will find out what works for you. I myself have a set routine I do on every map and for every game-mode. This will come overtime, abd you will never lose it.
5. Identify your Style
There are many different styles when playing Black Ops. Some may choose to be a rusher and use an SMG class and rush at the beginning of every game. Others may choose a more of a layed back class, such as a M16. There are many different ways to play a game as complex as Call of Duty. You be the judge maybe your a rusher, camper, sniper, etc.
6. Don't waste your Death (Use your brain)
What do I mean when I say, don't waste your death? There is no point running out into the middle of the map if you don't know what you're doing. Use a the killcam to your advantage. Watch the killcam, spot out where your enemy killed you from, Mess them up!!! If you are playing hardcore, I would suggest scoping out the enemy team from a distance. As said in step 5. Find which playing style works for you.
7. Choosing Loadouts (Classes)
- This post is not mine, I took it from Egn
For a Flagrunner
Lightweight/Steady Aim/Marathon, along with an SMG with Lightweight to
make your general movement speed faster. Marathon allows you to sprint
for a longer time and will let you hustle around the map, which is
helpful for grabbing or intercepting flags. Since you'll be focused on
moving around, Steady Aim will complement your speed by allowing you to
be a decent shot even when you're not aiming down the scope. For a Gunner
A light machinegun (LMG) is nice but it chews up ammunition and takes a
long time to reload, so combine that with Scavenger/Sleight of Hand.
Scavenger helps keep up your bullet supply while Sleight of Hand will
help counteract the time needed to load an entire ammunition belt when
reloading. Throw in the Ninja Perk as well, because it's awesome to
become a mobile self-sufficient machinegun that can sneak up behind
people.For
Bomb Techs
Flak Jacket/Warlord/Tactical Mask with a shotgun or an assault rifle
with Sabotage/Domination/Headquarters to have fixed locations for
objectives. Objectives tend to get bombarded with grenades or napalm
fire for area denial, and Flak Jacket will basically let you shrug off
most any grenade explosion that's not a direct hit. If someone tries to
toss in Nova Gas grenades, Tactical Mask will help you breathe while
arming/defusing/capturing. We just put in Warlord as the Tier 2 perk to
give your weapon-of-choice additional attachment options to make up for
how defensive and placement-centered your other Perks are.For the Happy Camper
When you find a nice spot to stay at during your gaming session, don't
budge. In order to minimize the amount of people that actually discover
your camping strategy, use the Ghost Perk so you're invisible to
aircraft, turrets, red crosshairs, and your name. Since you're camping
you'll most likely prefer to snipe. Because there's no quick-scoping in
the game, we suggest you make use of the Scout Perk -- you'll have a
longer duration to steady your aim. And finally, depending on what you
prefer, we suggest Ninja for undetected audible movement or Tactical
Mask to protect you from those that want to use their special grenades
against you.For
the Warmonger
Want to encourage your team to do their best? Equip the Hardline Perk to
earn those Killstreaks much faster -- trust us, the more havoc you
create on the battlefield, the better. Also, make sure to use the Spy
Plane Killstreak. The more intel your team has on the enemy, the more
likely your team gets those kills. We also like the Warlord Perk, so use
a M16 Flamethrower and Grenade Launcher for short and long distance
executions. Because you'll be on the front lines, equip Second Chance
for that last kill before you die.
8. Using your grenades
Grenades are a key factor in Call of Duty! Learn what grenades you like to use, I myself prefer Semtexes. Others may prefer Frags. For my special grenade I like to use Concussions. Find out what grenades fit your needs and master them.
9. Use Teamwork
Remember when playing a team-based game that you are not playing Free for all. Continue to be a team player. Use callouts, when you die let your teammates know where that player killed you from. It does your team no good if you're not talking. That means if you don't have a mic, you should get one!
10. Stats are your friend
Look at your stats, find out how your doing kills and matches wise. Are you improving, or are you continuing to do bad. Maybe you should try a different style of playing? Use your stats to your advantage.
11. Clan Matches
There are a variety of different gaming websites out there that allow you to set up clan matches. For example: Gamebattles . Gamebattles is a very nice site and they offer almost any game and any console ( not just Call of Duty ). They also offer many tournaments which you can win cash prizes up to $100,000. It's not as easy as it sounds but dedication will surely help you there.
12. Making Videos
I'm sure you have all seen a montage, to get started in making one of
your own you will need a capture card. You can buy a cheap capture card
for around $10. Note: this is not HD or super nice quality. If you are
looking for a HD Capture card, you will need to buy a HD PVR. This runs
about $250 and has jaw-dropping performance. Here is my youtube page: Crispy's Youtube . I
am a owner of the HD PVR and let me say I Love It!!!!!
You will also want to learn how to edit or get someone to edit your
videos for you.
13. Making Cash
There are numerous ways to make money playing video games competitively. For example: Tournaments on Gamebattles, Local Tournaments, Sponsorship, Youtube. These are just a few examples of how far your gaming skill can take you.
14. Have Fun
Remember to not let a game get the best of you, and trust me it will if you let it.
